How to Clean Orthokeratology Lenses Safely
Orthokeratology(Ortho-K) lenses are worn overnight to gently reshape the cornea and slow myopia progression in children and young adults. Because orthokeratology lenses are worn during sleep, lens hygiene and cleaning are critically important.
At Rose Optometry, peroxide-based systems are commonly recommended because they provide:
•strong antimicrobial disinfection
•preservative-free neutralisation
•effective deposit removal
Recommended peroxide systems include:
•Everclean
•AOSept Plus HydraGlyde
Many orthokeratology patients also benefit from surfactant cleaning using:
•Ote Clean
•Boston Advance Daily Cleaner
We recommend that patients:
•wash and dry hands before handling lenses
•never rinse lenses with tap water
•complete the full peroxide neutralisation cycle
•attend regular follow-up appointments
