Pre-Testing: What's All That About?

If you've ever come in for an eye exam and found yourself sitting in front of a few different machines before seeing the Optometrist, you might have wondered what was going on!

Those quick checks are called pre-tests, and they're an important part of your visit.

Before your appointment, one of our lovely Optical or Clinical Assistants will take you through a few simple tests to gather some information about your eyes. Depending on your needs, this might include checking your current prescription, measuring your eye pressure, or taking photos and scans of the back of your eyes.

Don't worry, there's nothing scary about it. Most of the tests take just a few minutes, are completely painless, and don't require any special preparation. (Yes, even the famous "air puff" test is over before you know it!)

The information we collect gives your Optometrist a head start before your examination begins. It helps them build a more complete picture of your vision and eye health and can sometimes pick up subtle changes that you may not have noticed yourself.
